Be part of our inaugural year of artist residencies: Learning, Collaborating and Co-creating.

Grow your creative practice by engaging and collaborating with water leaders from across the city, alongside other Milwaukee artists.

Because we believe in art's ability to connect and engage, we have created an opportunity to foster artistic practices on behalf of our waters. We aim to build a

city-wide group of creative practitioners who are informed water leaders, and addressing water issues through their work.

Artists of all disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Application Deadline: April 28, 2023

Artists notified: by May 19, 2023

This residency will begin with participation in Milwaukee Water Commons' Water School, a water stewardship and leadership development cohort comprised of teams from neighborhood-based organizations throughout Milwaukee. Each session combines indoor group learning and activities with outdoor water experiences.

Selected artists will:

  • Begin by joining neighborhood activists in a water stewarding and leadership development training series, we call it our Water School.

  • Collaborate with participating artists on advancing water equity through their work.
